Everyone uses a computer almost every day. Many of us want something flashy to be displayed on the screen when we aren’t using the machine. This is where free animated screensavers come in. They allow us to get some showy effects to look at when we aren’t sitting at the computer.
Fist off a little background about what a screen saver is. A few of us out there still use the old CRT monitors, these are essentially TVs made for pc use. When an image was displayed for to long on a CRT monitor / TV, there was a chance the image could be burned into the picture tube, and it would be stuck like that. This is not a good thing and requires you to get a new monitor, and at the time a monitor was not a cheap thing. So they came out with the screensaver to keep the image constantly changing.
Now the first free animated screensavers usually came with your operating system, or you could download them. Needless to say they weren’t as vivid or flashy as they are today. Typically they were just small, simple, moving objects that would appear randomly around your screen. This did its job but it wasn’t much to look at. As technology progressed and video cards got more powerful the screensavers got a little more interesting.
Nowadays you can download them of many websites, most of them legitimate. There quality has also improved, if you still want the old fashioned moving pipes you can get that, but there are so many more of them that are more intense. Some of them might give you an epileptic seizure if you stare at them to long. Yes they get that intense.
The free animated screensavers that are this vivid usually have a warning on them, so don’t worry. Although if you have nothing better to do with your time then sit in front of a screen and watch your screensaver then I’d advise you to read a book or something. Unless it’s a really interesting screensaver like a bunch of 3d birds flying over a pond or something along those lines. If the screensaver is talking to you then you might want to check yourself into a hospital.
Remember screensavers do not talk to people, and if you think you are hearing voices then turn your screensaver off. If you are still hearing voices then look around to make sure it’s not a family member, or a beloved pet needing something. Modern computer monitors are LCD panels now and don’t really need a screensaver to keep them from having an image burned into them. People still use them to have something displayed when they aren’t at their machine.
In closing free animated screensavers are a great way to cover your desktop when you are not there. As to why you would want to do this the reasons may be many. You might have a nosy neighbor, or don’t want anyone that walks by to see your monthly budget report. Regardless of the reason screensavers can be gotten anywhere and range from the simple rotating 3d pipes, to the more animated nature scenes.
